New RemControl Android banking malware targets users in Europe and Canada

Executive Summary

A new Android malware-as-a-service (MaaS) platform, RemControl, is targeting users in Europe and Canada through malvertising campaigns that impersonate the TVTap IPTV application. The malware, a banking trojan, harvests credentials and financial data, and is distributed via deceptive ads that lure users to download the fake TVTap app. Security researchers warn that RemControl’s modular design allows attackers to add new modules for phishing, credential theft, and data exfiltration.
